Chamonix Valley is a beautiful walking area with forests, glaciers, lakes and soaring rocky peaks. Discover the diverse natural beauty and wildlife scattered throughout the valley. Walks are well sign-posted and accessible either from the valley floor or by cable car (open usually from 15th June to mid September). If you are using lifts, it is very important, especially at the end of your journey, to check when the lift closes as you will face a long and potentially difficult walk back down to the valley floor if you miss the last one. The valley offers 350 km of superbly maintained hiking trails, with 160 different itineraries offering walks adapted to all. Walk along the river through the forest, higher up looking at the flora and wildlife or walking on a glacier. Experience the wonderful panoramas!
